Project Description:
- The project aims to highlight the significance of the Level(s) framework, which is being developed by the European Commission, as a future benchmark for assessing the impact of the built environment on human health and the environment.
- By raising awareness and practically implementing key indicators of the Level(s) framework such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC), and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), the project seeks to provide a foundation for applying measures and mechanisms necessary for better integration of EU policies with national practices.
- An additional objective is to align leading European certification schemes with the provisions of Level(s) and integrate the framework with national public procurement processes.
To ensure that national stakeholders are well-informed about what the Level(s) framework entails, CGBC has developed a guide through Level(s), covering sustainability indicators, macro goals, and the entire lifecycle of buildings:
As part of the LIFE Level(s) project, Croatia GBC, in collaboration with partner councils across Europe and with the support of experts from Cambridge Architectural Research (UK), has prepared a study on the environmental impacts of a group of commonly used construction materials (Aggregates/Cement/Steel/Aluminum/Glass/Wood/Brick) according to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology:
