In October, the implementation of the SMAFIN Expanded project has begun. CGBC, along with project partners from five participating countries – INZEB, REGEA, PRO-NZEB, ENEFFECTCONSULT, JSI, RoGBC, and the project coordinator CRES in Pikermi, Greece, held the official kick-off meeting from 2nd to 3rd November 2023.
The aim of the SMAFIN Expanded project is to continue the established methodology of roundtable discussions to promote sustainable investments initiated by the previous SMAFIN project and utilize previous efforts. To achieve this, a stakeholder network will be established to engage all key participants in consultations and dialogues and to disseminate knowledge about European Union practices in financing energy efficiency, especially in the broader Balkan region.
SMAFIN Expanded will support the implementation of smart financing for investments in energy efficiency in private and public buildings, the tertiary sector and small and medium-sized enterprises. It will seek to enhance policy processes by developing guidelines for effective and mature recommendations, mobilizing private investments through smart financial instruments and efficient guarantees available to policymakers or financial institutions.
The role of the Croatian Green Building Council is to actively engage the stakeholders of the project, to coordinate National Working Groups and Roundtables. During these discussions, in collaboration with partners, it will apply new knowledge obtained from Thematic Working Groups and Cross-country Labs.
